About Me

the culture thrift

"She wants culture and cuisine, an active way of living, beauty inside and out, in her home and her self."

Thanks for visiting The Culture Thrift!  I'm Sarah and I was raised in three generations of women- my gramma, my mom, and myself- quickly learning to creatively employ my resources.  Living in a cottage close to Lake Michigan, on the west side of Michigan, we were resourceful, at one time making a car muffler out of a two pound can of beans.  We soon left the cold (and the muffler) and moved to Phoenix, where I grew up, became a dancer, and studied dance and psychology in college.  The majority of my work experience has been in teaching dance and movement, since 2004; I have also worked in physical therapy.

Now I am a wife, currently residing on the other side of Lake Michigan, Chicago, with my wonderful husband and our fluff, Gabriel (who is a Maltese/Shih tzu).  I converted to Orthodoxy and believe that our relationships are our greatest treasure: with God, with family, with friends.
